When I started...

Around Thanksgiving of 2008 I began to research raw food eating. I was reading Steve Ross's book "Happy Yoga" in which he talks about raw food, but also I had heard general references and did some research on the web. I purchases some books, about four, which I have been reading. They vary in their doctrine and suggestions about raw food diets, and I appreciate that. I like to read or hear different points of view on a subject. It rounds it out better for me to make my own conclusions. And I do not think this process is through; rather just beginning. But these books are a helpful start.

So around the first week of December I began to mindfully eat more raw fruits and vegetables, meanwhile reading all aI could about raw food and lifestyle. I read about and believe I experienced an issue that can occur when a person enters raw eating too quickly. They detox at a rate their bodies cannot keep up with, consequently "re-toxing" their blood and systems as toxins are released faster than they can be cleared. I did not feel so well, but persevered. Today is 12/30. Over the month I have gone from feeling initally (briefly, like one day) GREAT, to feeling not so great, and then slowly feeling better.

A BIG improvement (was it just timing since I had arlready started focusing on raw?) occurred with the Christmas gift of a juicer from Carlos. I had already read a lot about the benefits of juicing and taking juices on an empty stomach, so I was eager to try and started drinking green juice on Christmas day. Here it is one week later and i swear I can feel and see differences, that I attribute to both diet changes and juicing, How exciting that positive progress can be seen in so little time! It is very motivating to continuing this way of eating.
